For Your Consideration.

Clement Biddle, (1810-1879) a member of the noted Philadelphia Biddle
family, was an author and poet and practiced law in Philadelphia.

1) [BIDDLE, Charles]. AIRDRIE AND FUGITIVE PIECES. Philadelphia: George
Gebbie, 1872. 1st edition. Tall 8vo.; [2], iv, 5-37p., [7] leaves of
plates,
in green pebbled cloth over boards with gilt title on front cover and
spine. Beveled edges; top edge gilt. Ends of spine a bit rubbed.
Inscribed by
the author on the front blank. Illustrated with 7 mounted photos of the
Biddle estate to correspond with Biddle's poetry. Tissue guard missing from
frontis. I believe these images are Woodburytypes, but they could be
Carbon prints or one of the more obscure processes. The images are
unfaded with
a good range of tones. The estate pictures are of the house, landscapes,
donkeys, &c. $200

2) BIDDLE, Charles. POEMS. Philadelphia: Lindsay & Baker, 1876. 1st
edition. Tall 8vo.; [9], 10-115pp. in green cloth with gilt lettering on
front cover
and spine. Top edge gilt. Corners rubbed and 2" split at top of spine.
Illustrated with 10 original mounted albumen photographs, many of the
same photos as the preceding book with the addition of 3 photos of
original drawings. Several text illustrations. With 28 poems (including
the 10 poems in the preceding book). The first book of poetry published
under Biddle's name. $200
