Some old brown spots (oil?) to the front cover. Preliminaries with an old faded 
water stain along top margin. A very nice copy in its orig. binding.

The second edition; the first to be edited by Toll (Boodt died in 1632). The 
work had first appeared in 1609 and was the most comprehensive text on 
mineralogy and gemology to this date. It is particularly important for information on 
the art of the lapidary, and became the textbook for every gem cutter in the
