It ncludes 125 books, nearly all new arrivals, with especially 
interesting pieces by A. E. Coppard, T. F. Powys, and T. S. Stribling.

1.  COPPARD,  A.  E. COLLECTED POEMS. London:  Jonathan  Cape  (1928).
First  Edition.  INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author on the  half-title
page  for British autograph collector L. E. L. Downing in 1947.  Above
his  inscription, Coppard has added a quote identified by him as being
from  Oliver  Gogarty: "A few more years to flow/From  miracle-working
Time,/And  surely I shall grow/Incapable of rhyme,/Sans love & song, &
so/An  echo of a mime." In addition, tipped to the front free endpaper
is  a small Christmas chapbook by Coppard titled A CAROL, printed  for
friends  of  Earl  and Florence Fisk in 1947 with  decorations  by  C.
Lovat  Fraser.  The  author has INSCRIBED and SIGNED this as  well  to
Downing  on  the verso of the title page in 1948. Near Fine in a  Very
Good or better dustwrapper.                                    $350.00

2.  COPPARD, A. E. DUNKY FITLOW. TALES. London: Jonathan Cape  (1933).
First  Edition.  Bound in publisher's full vellum  with  gilt-lettered
green  morocco spine label. Copy #93 of 300 numbered copies SIGNED  by
the  author. Fine, bright copy in later plain white paper dustwrapper.

3.  COPPARD, A. E. EASTER DAY. n.p.: n.d. [1931]. First Edition. Green
marbled    boards  lettered  in  red   backed  with   green   cloth. A
lithographic  reproduction  of four leaves of the original  manuscript
of  this poem, with the fifth and last page, consisting of four lines,
in  the  author's HOLOGRAPH MANUSCRIPT. SIGNED and dated Oct. 1931  by
the  author at the conclusion with the limitation notice in his  hand,
in  this  case:  "No. J. Presentation. (20a)."  Apparently  the  total
limitation  was  145  copies,  though this  is  not  stated  anywhere.
Additionally  INSCRIBED on the front endpaper: "For Earl E.  Fisk/from
AEC."  With  Fisk's bookplate on the front pastedown. Fine in  a  Very
Good slipcase with minor wear.                                 $250.00

4.  COPPARD,  A.  E. EMERGENCY EXIT. New York:  Random  House  (1934).
First  Edition. Copy #170 of 350 numbered copies SIGNED by the  author
on  the  half-title  page.  Bookplate of Earl E.  Fisk  on  the  front
pastedown. Fine with most of original glassine.                 $75.00

5.  COPPARD,  A.  E. NIXEY'S HARLEQUIN. TALES. London:  Jonathan  Cape
(1931).  First  Edition.  INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the  author  on  the
front  endpaper  for William Macey Stone, long-time secretary  of  the
Carteret  Book Club. Below his inscription, Coppard has added a  quote
identified  by him only as "(T.H.)": "the whole romance to see here/Is
the  dream I bring with me." The beautiful muti-colored covers of this
book  are  bright  and fresh. The paper spine label is now  loose  and
laid  into  the book but in perfect condition. The  white  dustwrapper
has  expected soiling with a one-inch closed tear internally  repaired
with tape. Near Fine in a Good or better dustwrapper.          $125.00

6.  COPPARD, A. E. POLLY OLIVER. TALES. London: Jonathan Cape  (1935).
First  Edition.  Bound in publisher's full vellum  with  gilt-lettered
green  morocco spine label. Copy #26 of only 50 numbered copies SIGNED
by  the  author.  Fine,  bright  copy with  later  plain  white  paper
dustwrapper.                                                   $250.00

7.  COPPARD,  A. E. THE BLACK DOG AND OTHER STORIES. London:  Jonathan
Cape  (1923).  Second Impression of the First Edition.  INSCRIBED  and
SIGNED   by  the  author  on  the   front  endpaper:  "To  dear  Louis
Golding/With  love  from/A.E. Coppard." Golding was a  British  writer
who  often  used  Jewish themes in his novels. He also worked  on  the
screenplays  of  several  movies including the Paul Robeson  film  THE
PROUD  VALLEY (1940). Front hinge cracked but tight; some staining and
wear to covers. Good or better, lacking a dustwrapper.         $150.00

8.  COPPARD,  A.  E. THE FIELD OF MUSTARD. TALES.  (London):  Jonathan
Cape  (1926).  First  Edition. Bound in publisher's full  vellum  with
gilt-lettered  green morocco spine label. Copy #9 of only 85  numbered
copies  SIGNED by the author. From the library of Geoffrey Ecroyd with
his  armorial bookplate on the front pastedown. Fine in price-clipped,
close to Fine dustwrapper.                                     $250.00

9.  COPPARD,  A. E. THE MAN FROM KILSHEELAN. London:  William  Jackson
(Books)  Ltd 1930. First Edition. Number 3 of the Furnival Books. With
a  frontispiece woodcut by Robert Gibbings and a foreword by  Coppard.
Copy  #113 of 550 SIGNED by the author. In the original clear glassine
dustwrapper  with paper inside flaps. Tears to the glassine with  some
pieces  missing  at  the rear. Fine in a Good example  of  the  scarce
dustwrapper.                                                   $150.00

10.  COPPARD,  A.  E. THESE HOPES OF HEAVEN. n.p.: [Blue  Moon  Press]
[1934].  First  Edition.  Yellow  wraps  decorated  by  Pearl  Binder.
Privately  Printed  in  January 1934 for Albert Parsons Sachs  by  the
Blue  Moon  Press Ltd. This, copy #6 of 150 copies, is  INSCRIBED  and
SIGNED  by  the author on the inside front cover to Frederic  Prokosch
on  22  February  1934. In addition, laid in is  an  AUTOGRAPH  LETTER
SIGNED  (ALS) from Coppard to Prokosch thanking him "for the delicious
little  tome  'The Dolls'" and forwarding his work in response.  Light
soiling to rear. Near Fine                                     $150.00
