et Suas Adspersit Jo. Carolus Zeunius.  Editio Nova, Priore Emendatior. 
  Glasgow: Jacob Mundell, Academiae Typograhus, 1796.  $350
      Large-paper copy.  4to, bound in full contemporary navy blue 
straight-grained morocco, gilt ruled bands on a flat spine with small 
gilt rosettes in the panels, double gilt rule border on the covers, 
a.e.g.  xxx, 575 pp.  The binding a bit rubbed at the extremities, with 
a few minor scuffs; head of the spine chipped; a few minor bits of 
foxing in the text but generally very clean; a good copy, with the 
contemporary bookplate of R. La Touche, Jr. on the pastedown.
      An uncommon and handsomely printed reissue of the Leipzig 1788 
edition, clearly showing the influence of Mundell's predecessors at 
Glasgow, the Foulis brothers.  Lowndes II, p. 1114; Brunet II, p. 638; 
not in Bruggerman.  Eight copies recorded in OCLC, with COPAC adding 
six more.
      William Baxter (1650-1723) also produced "the first Latin Grammar 
of a more than elementary type that had appeared in England"--De 
Analogia, seu arte Latinae Linguae Commentarius, 1679 (Sandys, A 
History of Classical Scholarship, vol. 2, p. 356).
