COLLECTION OF SACRED MUSIC, Adapted to the Various Metres in Watts. Exeter: J. 
J. Williams, printer. 1818. (2),251,(3)pp. Title & final leaves are text, the 
rest is printed music. These works are bound together as an 8vo, but is split 
horizontally so that the first two works (text) appear at the top and the 
third work (music) appears at the bottom, thus “any tune may be presented to the 
eye with any psalm or hymn.” Cont. sheep, somewhat worn, hinges & extremities 
a bit rubbed.     $400.00 (trade discount allowed)
The style of this book (so that pages of text and music can be turned 
separately, was invented and patented by Moses Elliot. AMERICAN BIBLIOGRAPHY 1818, 
#46717 (the divided edition listed under Watts). The top & bottom sections are 
also listed separately under “Bible” as #43338 and #43337. Based on the 
subscribers’ list at back (counting 182 subscribed copies) one can surmise that the 
size of the edition was not large, perhaps 500 copies.
