Donovan, Michael. "DOMESTIC ECONOMY" London; Longman, Rees, Orme, Brown &
Green: 1830 & 1837.

An exceptionally interesting source f information on the history and
habits of mankind regarding food and drink, with much information on
historical and early 19th century practice, and the customs of many
different cultures. The first volume treats brewing, distilling,
wine-making, and baking. The second volume covers "Human Food- Animal and
Vegetable", including quite a few things I never considered eating, but
others have. Also discusses the preservation of food.

2 vols. Hardcover. 4.5"x7", xiv +376 pages, and x + 388 pages. Red cloth,
as issued. Covers somewhat soiled, some wear. Spines sunned, paper labels
faded and chipped. Another label removed, causing uneven fading. Contents
with a little soil and spotting. An assembled set. Engraved period
armorial bookplate of Mary Napier Stuart in both volumes. [32198] $150.00
