New York, privately printed: June, 1940.

The elegant, privately-printed catalog of the 1940 incarnation of this
noted collection of British 18th and 19th century horse-racing paintings.
The catalog includes biographies of the artists and fairly detailed
entries on each of the 71 paintings. The Thieriot family has long been
associated with thoroughbred racing, Charles H.’s son (also Charles H.)
serving as a Trustee of the New York Racing Association, and the Thieriot
Collection of Sporting Art being exhibited as recently as 2007 at the
National Museum of Racing. The Foreword was written by Thieriot’s cousin,
Charles R. Henschel, President of the Knoedler Galleries. Uncommon.

Hardcover. 7.5"x10", 53 pages, 5 tipped-in b/w plates, marbled endpapers.
A little soil, extensive penciled art notes on the three pages listing the
paintings. [32129] $150.00
