publisher. N.d. (The Corvinus Press. 1944). Tall 4to. ff.(36), “french fold” (i.e. 18 
leaves, printed on alternate openings) on Japanese paper. Orig. tan morocco 
spine over Japanese paper boards, with the monogram of Lord Carlow on the front 
cover, “The Ancient Mariner” gold stamped on the spine. Fine.     $650.00 
(trade discount allowed)
This is one of 16 trial proof copies for an unpublished book planned by the 
Corvinus Press. This setting appeared without a title page or colophon. There 
is a second variant (18 copies) also without title and colophon, a folio of 14 
leaves, on Hodgkinson hand-made paper. The reference to these two variants can 
be found in the description and notes to items 48 and 50 in THE CORVINUS 
PRESS by Nash & Flavell and in Ridler. BRITISH PRIVATE PRESSES p. 57 (with a typo 
listing pagination as (56pp.) instead of (36pp.).
