a total of 49 copper engraved plates (46 in the main body of the text, and 3 
plates at the end showing roofing details). Bound in 19th century maroon 
morocco spine & corners over rust cloth, a bit rubbed. Some occasional text 
soiling.     $4,500.00 (trade discount allowed)
The scarce first English edition of this important treatise on the design of 
townhouses, by the French royal architect Pierre Le Muet (d. 1669). This is 
the translation of the “first part” of the treatise. The English translation of 
“The Second Part” appeared in 1675, and each is complete in itself. Fowler 
#178 notes that the plates are numbered in the very lower left-hand corner; in 
our copy not all plates show a number, apparently due to plate wear. Wing
