A paper read before the Rhode Island Historical Society on April 18th,
1882; its genesis was the question “when was the first woolen mill in
America opened?”. Taft uncovered much interesting information on the early
19th century mill trade in New England.

Royal C. Taft [1823-1912] was an art patron, businessman, and was elected
Governor of Rhode Island in 1888. Part of his collection is now at RISD.

Hardcover. 5"x7.5", 58 pages. Publisher’s brown cloth with gilt title. A
little light wear, but overall a near fine copy, bright and nice. $75.00
