HAWTHORNE,  Nathaniel.  THE   COMPLETE  WRITINGS  OF   NATHANIEL
HAWTHORNE.  Boston  and  New York: Houghton Mifflin  (1900).  The  Old
Manse  Edition complete in 22 octavo (5-1/8" x 7-7/8") volumes. Nicely
bound  in  red half morocco with matching corners and marbled  boards,
gilt  lettering  and  decorations  on  the  spines,  matching  marbled
endpapers,  top  edges gilt. Illustrated with  portraits,  facsimiles,
and  drawings by Alice Barber Stephens and others. Pale damp stain  to
the  lower borders of a few volumes. Close to fine and very attractive
on the shelf.                                                 $2500.00
