*KNOX, Ronald Arbuthnott. /REUNION ALL ROUND; Or, Jael's Hammer laid
aside and the Milk of Human Kindness beaten up into Butter and serv'd in
a lordly Dish: Being a Plea for the Inclusion within the Church of
England of all Mahometans, Jews, Buddhists, Brahmins, Papists, and
Atheists, submitted to the Consideration of the British Publick / by
their humble servant/* *// the Authour of / "Absolute and
Abitofhell"./* In original decorated stitched stiff paper wrappers.
London. 1915. 8vo, pp. 32.

Knox (1888-1957) was an English theologian, priest and crime writer. He
singlehandedly translated the "St. Jerome Latin Vulgate Bible" into
English. His 1928 essay "Studies in the Literature of Sherlock Holmes"
was the first of the genre of mock-serious critical writings on Sherlock
Holmes and mock-historical studies in which the existence of Holmes,
Watson et al. is assumed. Our offering is another of Knox's satirical
essays. It "mocks the fabled Anglican tolerance in the form of an appeal
to the Anglican Church to absorb everyone, from Muslims to atheists, and
even Catholics after murdering Irish children and banning Irish marriage
and reproduction." (see Wikipedia, and Hubin, "Crime Fiction, 1749-1980:
A Comprehensive Bibliography", p. 235).

This item is presented in the fashion of an early printed broadside. The
stitching is a bit loose. The paper covers are quite curled and frayed
at the edges, with light general soiling. There is an initialed
inscription at the top of the title page. The contents have age-toned.
There is a former owner's name on the half-title page. Overall, a good
copy of a very scarce title.
