"Useful and Ornamental Planting. With an Index"

By George Sinclair. Published in London by Baldwin and Cradock: 1832.

“Published under the superintendence of the Society for the Diffusion of
useful Knowledge”. Although much of the advice is certainly of use to all
gardeners, this treatise is oriented towards timber planters, with
sections devoted to the structure of trees, rearing trees, the culture of
a tree plantation, and the products of tree plantations. The section on
ornamental planting contains numerous references to American species of
trees.

Hardcover. 5.5”x8.5”, iv + 151 pages, several line illustrations in the
text. Period boards, somewhat worn and soiled. Three-inch crack on the
outer spine hinge [see photo], binding a bit shaken, though the stitching
is tight. A few light internal spots, but overall the pages are clean,
with good margins. $100.00
