[Santiago]: Litografia F. Leblanc, (ca. 1900s). 
395 lvs, printed rectos only. Illus. with 395 b/w 
photo reproductions. Obl. 4to (31 x 23 cm). Three 
quarter morocco over cloth boards paneled in 
blind, gilt titles, marbled endpapers (hardback). 
First edition.

An extensive collection of turn of the century 
photographs of Chile (a few dates with the most 
current being dated 1895) including cities and 
countryside, with about one quarter depicting 
Santiago, one quarter other cities such as 
Valparaiso, Viña del Mar, Concepción, about one 
half either small towns, villages, haciendas, 
Indians, or mountain views. Felix LeBlanc was one 
of the most successful photographers in Santiago 
and Valparaiso, having worked at the prestigious 
Foto Garreaud as Garreaud's apprentice after his 
arrival in Chile, before inheriting his business 
in 1875. Scarce. OCLC shows only four locations, 
NYPL, Buffalo, BN Chile, and Penn State (2nd vol. 
only). Also a partial copy at the Brit. Lib. 
Spines and extremities quite worn with some loss, 
boards stained, hinges reinforced, a few 
gatherings sprung, contents very good, photos

Mastercard, and Visa. Foreign orders should be in 
U.S. funds on a U.S. bank. New York residents 
please add appropriate sales tax or forward a tax 
id number. Libraries and Institutions can be 
billed. Trade allowance. Postage for Domestic 
orders is $4.00 for the first book and $1.50 for 
each additional volume. Books are normally 
shipped Media Mail. For international orders, 
postage is calculated individually. All books may 
be returned in original condition for any reason 
within two weeks with prior notification.
