      First edition.  With 133 reproductions of contemporary portraits, 
title-pages and texts, manuscripts, maps, etc., some of them folding.  
4to, blue cloth gilt.  viii, 236 pp.  With the origina prospectus laid 
in.  A fine copy.

      Kraus's collection included 16 manuscripts, 30 printed books, 9 
maps and views (including manuscripts), and 7 medals and portraits.  
Also includes a 12-page selective bibliography of works relating to 
Drake and his voyages.
      This copy is inscribed, "To Lawrence Lande with kind regards, H. 
Kraus, Nov. 12, 1971."  Lande was an important collector of Canadiana; 
the catalogue of his collection at McGill University serves as the 
standard bibliography of Canadiana.
