In the next day or so we will post our new list which contains archives
and scarce material by three American writers: Thomas Merton, John
Steinbeck, and Thornton Wilder. Here's an example:

WILDER, Thornton. AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED (ALS) with quote from
OUR TOWN. Zurich: 30 April 1961. First Edition. Full-page AUTOGRAPH
LETTER SIGNED (ALS) as "Thorny" to Margaret [Rollins], wife of book
designer and official printer for the Yale University Press, Carl
Rollins, in a very small hand (@475 words). Wilder discusses travel
news, getting a doctorate, and a U.S. touring company that "gave a
fine performance of my number, to great acclaim. June Havoc has grown
into the role of Sabina [SKIN OF OUR TEETH] and is very brilliant in
it.... But I'm getting homesick. I miss my car like some people miss
a dog or a garden or a bridge foursome.... I'm getting more and more
to be the old Chinese philosopher: I wanta go to Tucson and just sit
and think, and after just sit. Like it says in OUR TOWN: 'I'm gettin
weaned away,-- that's the only way to put it, weaned away.'" After
these whimsical thoughts about home, and possibly even death, Wilder
talks about finances and a relative's wedding. He ends with the
following sentence in capital letters: "I'M HOMESICK." Some light
wrinkling. Very Good $1500.00
