raised bands, six compartments, three with gilt titles, three with
decorations, fore corners and turn-ins decorated in gilt, top edge
gilt. Atabey 771. Cobham- Jeffrey, p. 37. See Blackmer 1079.
Goldsmiths'-Kress 15075.1. First Irish edition. Pirated edition
according to Atabey. Half-title in Volume 2 only (as usual).
Translation of Viaggi per l'isola di Cipro e per la Soria e Palestina
(Lucca, Firenze, 1769-76).
Mariti lived on Cyprus for seven years and travelled in the Levant
from 1760 to 1768. He became an honorary vice-consul for the British
on Cyprus. There are a number of chapters on wine and wine making in
Cyprus derived from Mariti's Del Vino di Cipro (1772). Provenance:
early signature of Robert Campbell on title page and head of first
chapter of each volume. A fine binding with scattered foxing to
