(1870s).  Fifteen  duodecimo  (5-1/8" x 7-5/8")  volumes,  illustrated
with  plates  and attractively bound by MacDonald in half red  morocco
with  matching corners and marbled paper sides and gilt-decorated  and
lettered  spines.  Includes his CONQUEST OF MEXICO, CONQUEST OF  PERU,
FERDINAND  &  ISABELLA,  CHARLES THE FIFTH, PHILIP THE  SECOND,  and a
volume  of  BIOGRAPHICAL & CRITICAL MISCELLANIES. Very minor  wear  to
some  corners  and minor rubbing to some spine tips and raised  bands,
but  no  chips or loss and covers tight. Spines evenly darkened.  Near
Fine with a handsome shelf appearance.                        $1500.00
