List 30: Rare Book Catalogue Collections

Collections of Dealer and Auction Catalogues of Rare Books mostly
from the Library of Eric Sexton,
(1902-1980) noted collector of incunabula whose main library was sold
by Christie's in 1981. Most are from the 1920s to the late 1970s. The
catalogues cover the major, and some of the minor, dealers from the
Americas, Great Britain, and Europe.

These lots range from two to over five hundred items each, and are
offered in groupings by firm, by location, and by subject including
americana, angling, architecture, autographs, bibliography, British
topography, illustrated books, first editions, food, graphic arts,
Iberia, incunabula, Latin America, juvenilia, numismatics, medicine,
music, western & oriental manuscripts, photographica, science,
Shakers, theology, travel, victoriana, Voltaire, and more. For the
most part the list does not offer individual catalogues which may be
available on a subsequent list.

Examples: a collection of catalogues on angling including the Alfred
Denision sale at Sotheby's; a collection of 120 Maggs Bros
catalogues; a collection of 45 R. D. Gurney catalogues on medicine &
science, a number of lots of H.D. Krause catalogues; 6 collections on
Incunabula; Orientalia including Vindel's Biblioteca Oriental.
