Fairholt, Frederick W. "An Illustrated Descriptive Catalogue of the
Collections of Antique Silver Plate, formed by Albert, Lord Londesborough,
now the property of Lady Londesborough"

London; Printed for Private Reference by T. Richards: 1860.

The catalogue of a fine collection of Medieval and Renaissance table
silver, including nefs, figural drinking cups, chiffoniers, tankards, and
salt cellars. Each piece is illustrated and described, and there is also
an interesting historical introduction outlining the history of the
development of table silver in the Middle Ages and Renaissance. The
frontispiece shows the elaborate nef of the Knights of Malta. Lord
Londesborough was an antiquary of select interests, and served as the
first president of the British Archaeological Association, vice-president
of the Archaeological Institute and president of the Numismatic Society.

Hardcover. 7"x9.5", xvi pages with 9 line illustrations, plus 27 pages,
plus 21 lithographed plates. Blindstamped cloth, as issued, leather spine
label. Light internal soil, plate XX detached but present, and soiled
around the edges. Otherwise clean and nice. [33165] $350.00

An extensive study of silver (much of it ecclesiastical) in the Canary
Islands, both important and crafted by Canary island silversmiths.
Silversmiths’ biographies and some marks are included, as is an extensive
bibliography. Uncommon.

Hardcover. 7"x9.5", 529+ pages, 219 b/w illustrations, marks. Publisher’s
blue cloth. Light soil, hinges slightly shaken. [33226] $600.00
