Greetings Booklovers,
We are pleased to offer:
~
(No. 7828 ) Lincoln, Joe (Joseph Crosby Lincoln) (1870-1944). CAPE COD
BALLADS AND OTHER VERSE.
Trenton, NJ: Albert Brandt: Publisher, 1902. First Edition, Full cloth,
Duodecimo, 198 pages + 2 ads, Drawings by Edward W. Kemble. Very good.
Nice copy of this beloved Cape Cod author's first book. Though the
scenes and people depicted here in verse could have been found throughout
Yankeedom in the day, these particular specimens were known by the author in
his boyhood "down on the Cape." Bound in yellow cloth over boards gilt spine
and upper board titles, illustrations stamped in brown on spine and upper
board. Rough-cut top and bottom edges of textblock. Tissue-guarded
frontispiece. Prior owner bookplate on front pastedown. Poem titled "In
Burns' Cottage" clipped from newspaper and pasted to rear pastedown, causing
brown offsetting to facing free endpaper. Front and rear endpapers have
minor browning (but no residue) from tape on an old protective cover. Minor
extremity rubs, a few faint spots to cloth. Hinges not cracked, but a there
is a short (1/2") split near top edge of front endpaper at hinge. Overall a
handsome and sturdy copy....... $125.00
