Rutherford Bacon. The Photogravure Frontispiece after a Painting by 
Albertine Randall Wheelan. San Francisco and New York: Paul Elder and 
Company. [1907]. First separate edition. 12mo, original gray paper 
over bevelled boards, vellum spine, gilt titles. 24 pp. Issued as 
'Western Classics No. One'. 1,000 copies printed on Fabriano handmade 
paper. Typography designed by J.H. Nash, published by Paul Elder at 
the Tomoye Press. A contemporary note in pen on the recto of the last 
blank leaf states "First copy of First Edition Sold in San Francisco 
October Seventeenth 1907". A fine bright copy, in the original plain 
printed dust wrapper which lacks a 5.5 x 1.5 cm chip from top edge of 
rear panel and has a small chip at the spine head.

Not a rare book, but a respectable copy.
