Apud Seb. Gryphium. 1548. 16mo. 308,(2)pp. With the final blank. Woodcut
printer's device on title. Small pictorial woodcut capitals. Cont. calf, gilt
tooled spine compartments & diamond shaped design on both covers. Hinges
repaired some time ago, front hinge now cracked but cords holding soundly. A.e.g.
Text entirely ruled in red. Bottom corner of one leaf (I3) torn, but only
touching the catchword. Cont. ownership inscription on front free endpaper
dated May, 1607. $675.00 (trade discount allowed)
The Argonautica of the 1st century writer Valerius Flaccus was left
unfinished by his death. Books 8-10 were added by Giovanni Battista Pio (d. 1540?)
using his translations of works of Apollonius Rhodius. Adams V79.
