farmhouses, barns, private homes, and other sites that were pressed into 
service as temporary hospitals for the nearly 26,000 men wounded after the 
Battle of Gettysburg. Illustrated with historic and modern photographs, 
including many showing how these sites appear today. An important source on 
a neglected aspect of Gettysburg. Appendices list Union and Confederate 
surgeons and physicians at Gettysburg, discuss medical observations at 
Gettysburg, how wounded were moved to hospitals, etc. FREEMON, p. 164. Bound 
in textured black paper over boards with spine and upper board lettered in 
gilt. Minor rubs to extremities. Jacket has some surface wrinkles, a few 
edge rubs, a closed 1" tear along upper joint fold at head of spine, and a 1
