Captures the diverse rigs and types of merchant and naval craft, large
and small, in which the 13 original colonies revolted against the British
crown. Included in this portfolio are the brigantine "Peggy Stewart," which
was burned in Annapolis harbor in a southern version of the Boston Tea
Party, John Paul Jones's famous ship "Bonhomme Richard," the first naval
schooner "Hannah," the frigate "Raleigh," Washington's cutter "Lee," and
others. Melbourne Smith's paintings are known for their fine artistic
quality as well as their historic and structural accuracy based on extensive
research and experience. The nine 16" x 12" prints are reproduced to the
highest standards on quality paper. They are interleaved with protective
tissue guards on which historical and descriptive text regarding each vessel
is printed. Bound in stiff paper covers with cloth reinforced spine. Covers
show a few edge rubs. Uncommon....... $75.00
