Differences on the Ohio, to the taking of Minorca by the French.

EDITIONS. Two pamphlets, untrimmed in original stitched bindings as  
issued, 8vo (22 cm); [4] + 111 + [1] pp.; 43 + [1] pp.; with half-

Two related pamphlets dealing with the Seven Years' War (French and  
Indian War). The first, one of a series of attacks by Shebbeare on the  
"timid" and "dastardly" policies of the Duke of Newcastle's  
administration, is of particular interest for its content dealing with  
hostilities on the frontiers of the American colonies, the Ohio River  
region in particular, with references to the disastrous Braddock  
expedition and George Washington. The second pamphlet, also titled  
Fourth Letter and published in the same year, is in fact a response to  
Shebbeare's first three "letters." In it, the anonymous author defends  
the Newcastle ministry from, among other things, charges that it  
favors the interests of Hanover over those of Britain.
