Greetings Booklovers,

We are pleased to offer:
~
(No. 11238 ) Lamson, Alvan. A DISCOURSE, DELIVERED AT DEDHAM, MAY 14, 1841,
THE DAY OF THE NATIONAL FAST, ON OCCASION OF THE DEATH OF WILLIAM HENRY
HARRISON, LATE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.
Dedham: H. Mann, Book and Job Printer, 1841. First printing, Pamphlet,
Octavo, 23 pages. Near Fine.
William Henry Harrison was the first American president to die in
office, and this is a eulogy preached at the First Church in Dedham,
Massachusetts. At just over 1 month, Harrison's presidential term remains
the shortest in U.S. history. Harrison also remained the oldest person to be
elected president until Ronald Reagan's election in 1980. The orator here,
Dr. Lamson, had been involved in the famous "Dedham Case" which advanced the
separation of church and state. This pamphlet is bound in green paper covers
with title printed on front cover. Shallow chips at bottom edge of front
cover, a few light stains and corner creases to covers. Contemporary prior
owner name penned at top fore corner of title page. Light scattered foxing
inside....... $50.00
