The first work is a description of England, Scotland, Ireland, the Hebrides and the Orkney Islands, with a long English historical chronicle. The second work, as published here (although separately collated) is the author's "Moschovia, in qua Situs Regionis Antiquis Incognitus..." a description of Moscow, but it also includes his description of Lake Como (the place of the author's birth) and a text on Italian fish In effect, this is a first collected edition by this author of 4 previously separately published works: on Roman fish in 1524; the description of Britain in 1548; the text on Moscow in 1557 (with the author Sigmund Herberstein) and his description of Lake Como ("Larii Lacus") in 1559.
