HAWTHORNE, Nathaniel. AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED (ALS). Concord, 19 May 
1862. A brief one-page (4-1/2" x 8") AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED by the 
author of THE SCARLET LETTER to his publisher: "Dear Ticknor, For value 
received, please pay to the order of my sister, Elizabeth M. Hawthorne, 
eighty dollars" and SIGNED "Nath. Hawthorne." Attractively matted with a 
portrait and framed to an overall size of 12-1/2" x 18". Not examined 
out of the frame but appears to be Fine.         $3,000.00
