Tokugawa Museum No.5”

Published by the Tokugawa Museum in 1989.

DISCUSSION: A catalog of examples of antique Japanese Hina Dolls,
displayed in the yearly Doll Festival (Hina-matsuri) in which sets of
ornamental dolls representing the Emperor, Empress, attendants, and
musicians in traditional court dress of the Heian period are displayed on
red-carpet-covered platforms. Not only the dolls, but also accessories
such as doll furniture, tea sets, china, boxes and textiles are also
illustrated.

The main text is in Japanese, and there is an English 5-page list of the
illustrated items, organized by the collection they are from.

A scarce catalog.

DESCRIPTION: Softcover. 8.5”x10”, viii + 143 pages, many color
illustrations and several folding color plates.

CONDITION NOTES: A little light soil, minor wear, but overall clean and good.
