Out of the Original Tongues by the Calcutta Baptist Missionaries, with 
Native Assistance. Calcutta: Baptist Missionary Press. 1848-1872. 5 volumes. 
Title pages in English & Sanskrit; text entirely in Sanskrit. Orig. cloth, with 
paper spine labels (a few chipped). A few inner hinges cracked. Spines 
somewhat rubbed, and a 1-1/2" piece at the top of the spine of Volume 1, chipped 
off & a small piece from Volume 2. An ex-library ("Bangor Seminary Library") 
set with small paper labels on the spine & bookplates. No markings on the 
title pages.     $1,500.00 (trade discount allowed)
This is the very rare first complete Bible in Sanskrit, the version of J. 
Wenger (1811-1880). Volume 2 is dated 1852; Volume 3, 1858, Volume 4, 1872 
and Volume 5 (the New Testament), 1851, with "second edition" printed on the 
title page. Note: the first edition of the New Testament in Sanskrit is 1841, 
which was the version of W. Yates. Our 1851 imprint is the first printing 
of the Wenger version. See Darlow & Moule #8002, 8004, 8009, 8012 and 8003. D 
& M notes the Wenger edition has "never been revised and remains the only 
version in use."
