Bird's-Eye View of the Thames: London to Oxford [cover title]. London:
G.W. Bacon & Co., [ca. 1887]. Hardcover in publisher's red cloth
stamped in blind and gilt, 18 cm, containing an accordion-style
folding color map of the Thames in three sections, each cloth-backed
in stiff printed paper wraps, held in a maps pocket, with two leaves
of adverts.

A charming color aerial view of the River Thames from Oxford to
London, depicting all the towns, villages, farms, landmarks, bridges,
railways, etc., etc, in between. The map is in three sections, Oxford
to Reading, Sonning to Laleham, and Chertsey to London, each section
measuring ca. 7 x 57 inches when extended, the entire map measuring
171 in. or more than 14 feet!

Lacking the booklet that was originally bound in; the year of
publication (1887) is derived from the date of one of the ads. Some
bumps and soiling to the cloth binding, light wear and toning to the
edges of the wraps for each section, one section with a mild bump to
one corner; the maps themselves are in wonderful shape: clean, fresh
and bright.
