(LEAF BOOKS) PAGES FROM THE PAST. A Collection of Original Leaves from Rare 
Books and Manuscripts. New York: The Foliophiles, Inc. N.d. (circa 1927). 
Consisting of 9 leaves (including 3 manuscript and 3 incunable) that were 
previously mounted on craft paper stock but have since come loose. Each leaf is 
accompanied by a lengthy paragraph of letterpress description. All are 
housed in publisher's red cardboard box (21-1/4" x 13-1/2"), a bit chipped & 
split, paper label mounted on front cover.     $1,500.00 (trade discount 
allowed)
This collection contains leaves from: 1. a vellum Book of Hours printed for 
Antoine Verard at Paris, 1500, with a full page (7-1/2" x 5") hand colored 
and illuminated scene of the Three Kings visiting the infant Jesus; 2. The 
Nuremberg Chronicle, 1493, with two half-page woodcut city views (7-1/2" x 
9") ostensibly of the capitals of Spain and England; 3. a gilt illuminated 
manuscript leaf (10-3/4" x 6-1/2") of a Koran done in the early 15th century; 
4. a Digest of Civil Law by Andrea Torresano of Asolo, 1491, (17" x 11") 
double column text printed in red & black with blue illuminated initials; 5. an 
early text book based on Aristotle's Nautural Philosophy, printed by Henri 
Estienne in Paris in 1510; 6. Dryden's translation of Virgil, printed by 
Jacob Tonson in London in 1697; 7. a Sanskrit manuscript leaf circa 1800; 8. 
Estatutos Generales de Barcelona printed in Mexico by Pedro Ocharte in 1585; 
and 9. an Italian manuscript leaf written about the middle of the 17th 
century.
