5 VOLUMES).
Glencoe, IL: Free Press & The Falcon's Wing Press, [1957]. Full cloth, 
Duodecimos, over 2,500 pages, double-spread map in volume I. near fine in a 
worn slipcase.
      Landmark history of ancient Rome, originally published in the 1850s. 
This work won German historian Mommsen the second Pulitzer Prize awarded in 
1902. These five volumes are the complete unabridged work, uniformly bound 
in brick-red cloth over boards with spine titled in gilt, gray endpapers, 
and gray topstain. Other than a few light extremity rubs and a shallow bump 
to heel of spine on volume V, the set is crisp and clean. The slipcase is 
worn with one joint split and repaired by a prior owner with duct tape. The 
slipcase has publisher information panel tipped onto back side.......
