Folio (17" x 12-1/2"). (10).28pp. Double column text. Title printed in red &
black. Housed in the rear cover is an original leaf of "The Catholicon" (14" x
11", double column text with rubricated initials). The deluxe "Collector's
Edition" (limitation unknown); bound in full blind & gilt stamped antique
calf, some slight rubbing at head & foot of spine. With the publisher's
original brown pebbled cloth dust jacket and matching slipcase. Laid in at front
are the original prospectus in its mailing envelope and 2 T.l.s. by Edmund
Byrne Hackett, President of The Brick Row Book Shop, regarding the acquisition
of this copy, obtained at a later date. Though the prospectus calls for 2
leaves in the deluxe binding, this copy only has one. $4,500.00 (trade
discount allowed)
The Catholicon is a reference work on the Latin language, which
incorporates a religious Latin dictionary. Disbound and Dispersed, #70.
