Taylor (1823-1851) traveled to the United States and then Cuba in 
1841 at age 18 to speculate in mining, but two years later he became 
a planter and then an overseer. The author died soon after this work 
was completed and it was published two months after his death at age 
29. Includes much on slavery and the slave trade, their economics and 
consequences, and argues for its eventual extinction. Spine sunned as 
usual, slight roll, with small tear along rear joint and heel, rear 
hinge starting, occasional foxing and staining, but otherwise
