[xx], 626 pages, black and white photographs, drawings. Very good in a very 
good dust jacket, Jacket in Mylar protector.
      Definitive work based on Worcester's 30 years on the Yangtze as River 
Inspector with the Chinese Maritime Customs Service. The present volume 
combines Worcester's four original volumes published in the 1940s: "Junks 
and Sampans of the Upper Yangtze," "Notes on the Crooked-bow and 
Crooked-stern Junks of Szechwan," and both volumes of the original edition 
of "Junks and Sampans of the Yangtze." This edition edited for continuity 
and to eliminate repetition. Well written and illustrated with detailed 
scale drawings, photographs, and maps. Book designed by Melbourne Smith. 
Bound in white cloth over boards with spine titled in gilt and red, olive 
green endpapers, salmon-colored topstain. Some faint spots of foxing to 
cloth, slight water spotting to topstain, jacket has some fading to spine 
and upper board. Generally clean and sound overall....... $150.00
