CHESTERTON, G. K. THE BALL AND THE CROSS. New York: John Lane Company,
1909. First Edition. The true first, preceding the English edtiion, of
this rather scarce early fantasy novel by Chesterton. According to an
article in the New York Times of 4 December 2009, this title is said to
"encourage Christians at a time when the practical results of
Christianity are criticised on all sides, but the agnostic will find
brilliant arguments to support his point of view." Owner name dated 1911
on the front endpaper. Light fraying to the tips of the spine which is
darkened but with the gilt still clear. Very Good, lacking the
exceptionally scarce dustwrapper. $500.00
