Now Published by John Rushworth. London: Printed by J. A. for Robert Boulter
[and others]. 1680-1701. Folio (14" x 9"). 5 volumes bound in 8. Illustrated
with copper engraved plates (see annotation below). All volumes are
uniformly bound in cont. diced calf with elaborately gilt tooled borders, and all
have been expertly rebacked in period style, featuring gilt decorated spine
compartments and red morocco labels. Occasional light foxing. A very
attractive set. $3,750.00 (trade discount allowed)
This set comprises Wing R2317 (2nd ed. of 1682, 1st is 1659); R2318 (1st
ed. of 1680, in 2 vols); R2319 (1st ed. of 1692, in 2 vols), and Wing R2333a,
which is Rushworth's THE TRYAL OF THOMAS EARL OF STRATFORD... UPON AN
IMPEACHMENT OF HIGH TREASON. London: M. Wotton and G. Conyers. 1686 (2nd ed., 1st
is 1680). The final title (in 2 vols): "The Fourth and Last Part..." is a
1st ed. dated 1701 (post Wing). There is a fine double-page Map of England in
Vol. I, a folding plate of the Battle of Naseby, 1645, in Vol. VII, and a
total of seven engraved portraits in the set.
