n.p., 1872. First Edition. Small quarto (6" x 8-7/8") in original purple 
cloth with gilt lettering on the front cover., all edges gilt, 50 pages. 
Illustrated with a color map. A memorial to the Chief Medical Officer of 
the Army of the Potomac during the Civil War in the form of an account 
of his activities during that time. INSCRIBED and SIGNED by C. H. Dalton 
to Oliver Wendell Holmes, M.D. In addition the book is SIGNED on the 
verso of the front free endpaper by the recipient: "OW Holmes/Boston." 
Mild foxing to endpapers; some wear to cloth at spine tips with slight 
loss. Very Good example of a book from this great 19th century American
