I can offer...

[CIVIL WAR] Speed, Capt. Thomas. "Story of a Regiment. History
of the Twelfth Kentucky Infantry From Its Organization to the War's
Close. A Regiment Which Participated in Eight Campaigns and Kept Its
Veteran Organization." Included in The Commercial Supplement
newspaper. [Louisville, KY, February 5, 1882].
Single sheet newspaper measuring 29 by 21 1/2 inches, printed in
nine columns; folded several times with some wear at the folds and some
archival repairs to the horizontal center folds on the verso, including
some slight loss of text at the center where the two main folds meet,
and the loss of a few letters in four other spots; larger section of
text missing from the right-hand column, which related "Turf News" and
is unrelated to Capt. Speed's history; some overall browning and some
chipping to the blank edges. A good copy.
This article, which occupies eight of the nine columns on the
obverse, is actually the substance of a paper delivered by Capt. Speed
at the regular meeting of the Federal Historical Society of Kentucky,
and it is likely the first printed history of this regiment (which
fought for the Union). Speed, who served as 1st Lieutenant of the
regiment and was later made Captain, went on to compile and publish The
Union Regiments of Kentucky in 1897.
The Louisville Commercial was in existence from 1869 to 1902. A
scarce piece and a "must-have" for the regimental collector.

$150 plus shipping.

Cheers,
Greg Powers
