[Rarebooks] Ms. John Burroughs identifies a bird

Burroughs, John. AUTOGRAPHED NOTE, SIGNED. West Park, N.Y: October 1, 1881. Post card to a Mr. H. K. Bush Brown of Newburgh N.Y. Burroughs is obviously replying to a query about a bird that Mr. Brown has observed. “The name of your bird is probably the White Throated Sparrow”. Burroughs goes on to note field marks and migration habits. Very nice content. Burroughs was a noted naturalist and a great bird watcher. He and Theodore Roosevelt often went bird watching together. Very good. Light soiling on recto. Some stains to the verso where it was addressed. $200.00
