263 pages. Sabin 102055; S&S 24380. A collection of his periodical 
appearances with a discourse delivered before the Humane Society of the 
Commonwealth of Massachusetts, which the author founded. In addition to 
helping establish the Harvard Medical School, where he was professor of 
medicine from 1783 to 1812, Waterhouse was also professor of natural 
history at Brown from 1784 to 1791 where he delivered the first course 
of lectures on that science in this country. He also introduced a 
vaccination for smallpox into the United States. Moderate browning, 
foxing; some loss of paper to spine. About Very Good and uncommon in
