In the 1970s the House of El Dief under Lew David Feldman was a
formidable presence among rare book dealers, offering manuscripts and
letters of all the major authors of the 20th century. His catalogs
were always lavishly illustrated.
A lot of 4, all in fine to near fine condition: $50 net
1. Sixty five: manuscripts and correspondence, paintings and
scultures, drawings and graphics, books and periodicals including
Barrie, Conan Doyle, Fitzgerald, Flaubert, Hitler, Joyce, Kennedy,
Steinbeck, Shelley, among others. Folio. Grey wrappers. 1965. 65
items, including 177 pages of unpublished correspondence by Robert
and Elinor Frost.
2. Seventy: the world of books arts and letters circa 1455 - 1968.
Folio. Blue wrappers. 1969. 101 items, includeing a collection of 57
Einstein letters.
3. Seventy one: the world of books arts and letters circa 1170 -
1970. Folio. Glossy white wrappers. Corners bumped. 1971. 71 items,
including a holograph manuscript of The Adventure of the Red Circle
by Conan Doyle.
4. Fortieth anniversary catalog. Folio. Green cloth in glassine dust
jacket. 1975. 40 items, including the autograph manuscript score of
Faust by Charles Gounod. A 6 page supplement to the catalog laid in.
