The 1940 facsimile reprint of Lauchlan McKay's 1839 "The Practical
Ship-Builder
" in an edition of 250 copies, of which this is #169, SIGNED by
Richard C. McKay. This important treatise was written by a prominent
designer of American clipper ships and gives detailed accounts of the
construction of these ships. See ALBION p. 57 (starred item). This edition
includes a biography of Lauchlan McKay by Richard C. McKay. Bound in dark
blue cloth over boards with gilt-stamped title on upper board, top edge
gilt. Sun fading to spine and joints of both boards, minor extremity wear.
