Two volumes of The Repository of Arts, Literature, Fashions,  
Manufactures, &c. Scarce illustrated magazine issued by the legendary  
publisher, showman, and entrepreneur Rudolph Ackermann, the "presiding  
genius" of early nineteenth-century color plate books. "The Repository  
is one of the richest sources for the social history of its period...  
presenting a vivid picture of the life of the time... A key to the  
people's whims and prejudices in literature, politics, music, business  
and morals" (Hardie pp. 96-125).

Second Series; Vol. II, July-December, 1816.
COMPLETE with all 31 plates (all but 4 hand-colored), plus 5 plates of  
muslin patterns, as called for.
"LONDON FASHIONS": 12 plates of ladies' fashions: Morning Dress, Opera  
Dress, Walking Dress, etc.
"ARCHITECTURAL HINTS": A Gothic Conservatory, A Cottage Ornee, Garden  
Seats, etc.
"FASHIONABLE FURNITURE": A Mona Marble Chimney Piece, Drawing Room  
Window Curtains, A Saloon, Dining Room, etc.
VIEWS: The New Custom House, The Banqueting House, the Ruins of the  
Savoy in 1816 taken from the Strand Bridge.
Plus two uncolored plates related to the Savoy and the building of  
what would become Waterloo Bridge.


Second Series; Vol. 6, July-December, 1818
Lacking one plate ("Before the Tribunal at Avignon") and three muslin  
patterns, otherwise complete with 29 colored plates and one muslin  
pattern.
"PICTORIAL CARDS": 6 engraved plates of playing cards, four cards per  
plate, with accompanying descriptive text.
"LONDON FASHIONS": 12 plates of ladies' fashions: Riding Dress,  
Evening Dress, Walking Dress, etc.
"FASHIONABLE FURNITURE": A Pier Table and Grecian Pedestal, etc.
MOUNT SIMPLON: 6 views accompanying "Picturesque Tour of Mount Simplon."
Plus one plate by THOMAS ROWLANDSON ("The Sacred Page Displayed").
