We would like to draw your attention to a fine collection of works by
John Hall Wheelock (1886-1978) newly posted on our website:
www.mathesonbooks.com .
Wheelock was an important and influential poet and man of letters of
his time. Associated with Charles Scribner and Sons from 1910, he
succeeded Maxwell Perkins as Senior Editor in 1947 where he was noted
for spotting new talent. He published 14 books of poetry, garnering
many awards, including the Bollingen Prize in 1962 and the Poetry
Society of America Gold medal in 1972. The collection consists of 46
volumes, includes all of his primary works in first edition, all but
three signed or inscribed, some with additional autograph material.
All are in near fine to fine condition, nearly all in dust jackets
where called for. $1500.
