Specially bound slip case edition for Alcoa Plaza with owner's name

author attached. Albert Goldman was the postmaster of New York City 
through the 1950's. Includes a photograph of the world series at 
Yankee Stadium (nd). While the item is undated it makes reference to 
the soon to return soldiers from W.W.II. Scarce. RLIN and OCLC show 
copies at NYU, NYPL, Bronx Bot. Gardens, NY Hist. Soc. Two tears to

bold hand on the title page. Hint of rubbing to the spine ends else a

5. Voorhees Walker Smith & Smith; New York (N.Y.).; City Planning 
Commission.	ZONING NEW YORK CITY: A PROPOSAL FOR A ZONING 
RESOLUTION FOR THE CITY OF NEW YORK SUBMITTED TO THE CITY PLANNING 
COMMISSION. [New York]: 1958. xi, 376 pp. Illus. with 8 b/w photos (1 
2-page), 37 maps (35 2-page + 2 folding), tables, part colored. Folio 
(38 cm). Gray cloth with gilt titles, rear pocket folder with maps 
(hardback). First edition. Vorhees study for the re-zoning of New 
York City (in 1961) under the Wagner administration. Two large 
folding Flight obstruction maps in pocket. This copy is numbered 
1614. Top corner bumped else a very good copy, extremities rubbed, 
binding firm, leaves clean, maps crisp. No dust jacket as issued.

**********THE WORLD'S FAIR THAT WASN'T
6. Towne, Henry R. [Robinson]. FINANCIAL PROJECT FOR THE 
INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION, COLUMBUS QUADRI- CENTENNIAL, NEW YORK, 
1892. [New York]: n.p., 1889. 21 pp. Sm. 8vo. Paper wrappers. First 
edition. Henry Robinson Towne (1844-1924) was an engineer and 
businessman, head of the Yale Lock Co., head of the Merchants' 
Association of New York, author of 'A Treatise on Cranes' (1883), and 
would later be a member of the Federal Reserve. Here he details plans 
for an International Exhibition for 1892 which would include the 
building of a 1320 foot high observation tower (similar to the Eiffel 
Tower), a Coliseum with seating for 50,000, and a circulating railway 
which would move both outside and inside buildings. Includes 
estimated financing (from the City of course) and revenues. Chicago, 
however, was where the World's Columbian Exposition was held in 1893. 
Scarce. OCLC and RLIN show no copies of this separate publication 
though the Smithsonian and the NYPL each have a copy of "Papers 
relating to the international exhibition, of 1892," which includes 
this item. Very near fine with a small closed tear on the spine, 
otherwise bright and crisp. An exceptional copy.	[27285]

7. Smith, Gouverneur Mather. [NEW YORK CITY BATH HOUSES]. THE 
PEOPLE'S BATHS. FOUNDED A.D. 1891, BY THE NEW- YORK ASSOCIATION FOR 
IMPROVING THE CONDITION OF THE POOR. New York: n.p. 1891. 70 lvs. 68 
hand-numbered. 8vo. (230x180 mm). Original half-morocco over marbled 
boards, five raised bands, four compartments with gilt florets, two 
lettered in gilt, all edges gilt, marbled endpapers (hardback). Album 
of manuscripts, typed letters and clippings titled:" The People's 
Baths. Founded A.D. 1891, by the New-York Association for Improving 
the Condition of the Poor." Includes 10 manuscript letters discussing 
the project, a 20 page typescript opening essay for the book, 
contemporary invitations to the openings, tickets for the baths, 
newspaper accounts, statistical reports on its use, all mounted in 
the album; also laid-in loose is a group of correspondence between 
Smith and the Columbian Exposition on an exhibition of public baths. 
The construction of the baths, opened in 1891 at 9 Centre Market 
Place, was a milestone in Manhattan's enhancement of public 
sanitation and health. This album is Gouverneur Smith's own "mock-up" 
intended to be published in time for the 1892 Columbian Exposition, 
but apparantly was never published. Provenance: Dr. Gouverneur Smith 
(signed and dated on front flyleaf). Very good or better, extemities

(hardback). Reprint. A magnificent survey originally published 1915 
to 1928 with maps, documents, photographs, engravings, and other 
illustrations from original sources. A fine set. As new and unopened.

be billed. Trade allowance. Postage for Domestic orders is $4.00 for 
the first book and $1.50 for each additional volume. Books are 
normally shipped Media Mail. For international orders, postage is
