See New Howes C902, "Spurious biography, not authorized by Crockett; 
attributed to James S. French." Crockett died in 1836. The first edition, 
Cincinnati, 1833, was only 113pp. This "New Edition" was greatly expanded. In 1834 
Crockett authorized a biography, "A Narrative of the Life of Col. David 
Crockett," in order to checkmate our 1833 biography.
