Greetings Booklovers,

We are pleased to offer:
~
(No. 11270 ) Townsend, George Alfred "Gath" (1841-1914). POEMS OF THE
DELAWARE PENINSULA.
[Wilmington]: [Every Evening Printing Company], [1913]. First printing,
Original cloth, Octavo, 200 pages, Frontispiece photograph. Near Fine.
The last book Townsend wrote. Most of the poems in this scarce volume
were written while the author lay sick in a hospital bed, and were therefore
distilled entirely from his own memories of scenes and incidents on the
Delaware Peninsula and Maryland's Eastern Shore. Tissue-guarded frontispiece
photograph shows Townsend as an old man. No publisher information in the
book but see Ruth Hindes, "George Alfred Townsend," p. 59. PRATT, EASTERN
SHORE #1174. Bound in brown cloth over boards with gilt-stamped spine title,
decorated endpapers. Binding shows some rubs and mild fraying at spine ends
and along lower fore edge of upper board. Fore corners slightly bumped. Very
nice overall, with sound hinges....... $100.00
